Our Weekly Watering Recommendations
We had another week of occasional showers and relentless heat in Texas! Our weekly watering recommendation is for homeowners to water 3 times a week for 0.5” per session to reach at least 1.5” total.
Watering runtimes vary depending on your irrigation system, but the best rule of thumb is:
- 20-30 minutes per zone for popups
- 40-50 minutes per zone for rotor heads
- About 60 minutes for low-impact, MR rotors
Signs of Heat Stress
If you’re noticing certain areas that are brown or dry, up your water times in those zones to combat heat stress. At this point of summer, heat stress is a common problem and can start showing up after just a few days of inadequate watering. For stubborn problem areas, supplemental watering with a hose can also help. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns about your lawn! Our office can also provide referrals for irrigation services if you’re having trouble with your system.
