Our Weekly Watering Recommendations
As the summer heat continues in areas of College Station, Bryan, and NW Houston, it’s safe to say lawns need continued watering to stay hydrated. Overwatering shouldn’t be a concern with the amount of heat we’re seeing so continue watering 3 times per week with a goal of at least 1.5 inches of water in total.
Many neighborhoods are now facing watering restrictions. Watering twice per week is adequate so long as cycle and soak practices are utilized and your lawn can get the appropriate amount of water. If your lawn is turning yellow or brown, you need to extend the duration of that zone.
Your Texas Trees are Thirsty, Too
Lawns aren’t the only thing in need of water during hot summers in Texas. Proper watering is crucial for Texas trees to stay healthy. Aggieland Green offers deep root watering by injecting the tree roots with water and micronutrients. This delivers water and nutrients 6-12 inches into the ground directly to the root zone rather than wetting the surface of the soil. Deep root watering prevents runoff, overall waste, and loss due to evaporation, making this service especially helpful in keeping your tree hydrated during dry spells and droughts.
